The Lexus IS is already a great option in the small executive sector, but the new Sport specification adds a keener-priced car to the mix.
Sport grade is new to the range as of Autumn 2015, with deliveries starting in November. It adds a sports-themed package to the IS, but also acts as a new entry point to Lexus IS ownership.
Customers opting for a Lexus IS in this grade will get five spoke, black, 18-inch alloy wheels, a black finish for the Lexus hallmark spindle grille and matching black door mirror casings. As with all of the IS range, the Sport has L-shaped, LED daytime running lights at the front.
The cabin trim is unique to the Sport grade. The car is trimmed throughout with black cloth upholstery, with light grey Tahara leather-effect seat bolsters and door grips - with contrasting light grey stitching and inserts. The front seats have integrated seat heaters and the Lexus Navigation system is fitted as standard.
Much of the other equipment matches what you would find in the more advanced Luxury specification. This includes front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, dusk-sensing HID headlights, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, Smart Entry and push-button start and a six-speaker Lexus audio system with DAB and Bluetooth.
Like all other IS models, the IS200t & IS300h Sport offer a spacious and well-appointed cabin, with plenty of room for four adults in comfort. The 245hp IS200t Sport will reach 60mph in 7 seconds, while the petrol-electric hybrid version has a combined fuel economy of 65.7mpg, placing it into the second lowest tax band.
Available from £28,995 for the IS200t and £29,995 for the IS300h, the Sport provides a cost-conscious but not cost-cutting entry point to the Lexus IS range.
