Lexus RC Coupe
The order books have opened for the new Lexus RC Coupe, in both 200t and 300h guises, with prices starting at £34,995 and first deliveries expected in January 2016.
These power units will be familiar to Lexus fans, with the turbocharged petrol 200t offering up 241hp and the hybrid 300h pairing a 2.5 litre petrol engine with electric assist for 220hp. The RC F remains available as a performance option, with its 471hp 5.0 litre V8.
Three trim levels are available for the RC Coupe, with the entry level Luxury trim exclusive to the 300h and the F-Sport and Premium grades on both models.
Though the Luxury grade is the entry point, at £34,995, it comes with the range of features you’d expect on a Lexus. In-car entertainment comes from a six-speaker audio system with CD player, DAB, Bluetooth and two USB ports, seven-inch multimedia screen with remote. Cruise control, folding/heated door mirrors, LED headlamps and daytime running lights, parking sensors, dual-zone automatic air conditioning and power-adjustable front seats are all standard features too.
Luxury models come with five spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, exclusive black cabin inlays and Lexus’s Drive Mode Select, which adjusts performance to suit conditions or driver preference, with Eco, Normal and Sport modes.
F Sport models have a redesigned grille with deeper bumpers and multi-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels, to make for a different road presence. The LED headlights also have a signature “triple L” arrangement and automatic high beam function.
There are power adjustable F Sport front seats with heating/ventilation, driver’s side memory setting and automatic “easy access” function. Further sportier features include aluminium scuff plates and sports pedals and LFA-style meters that automatically change appearance according to the drive mode selected. The cabin inlays are aluminium too.
You’ll also get Adaptive Variable Suspension and, on the 200t F Sport, a limited-slip differential. The Drive Mode Select system adds a fourth, Sport+ mode which introduces additional chassis control for an even sportier drive.
The top specification Premier adds 19-inch alloys, Lexus Premium Navigation, 17-speaker Mark Levinson surround audio system and a safety suite including Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert , Lane Keep Assist and a rear-view camera. Like the F-Sport it includes the “triple-L” LED headlights with Automatic High Beam function, power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats with driver’s side memory setting and power steering wheel adjustment over the Luxury specification.
All models come with smooth leather upholstery in one of four shades - Black, Topaz Brown (replaced with Dark Rose in the F Sport), Clove and Grey. Contrast or toning stitching is featured on the instrument panel doors, seat bases and seatbacks.
The 300h range starts at £34,995 for the Luxury model, rising to £37,495 for the F Sport and £40,495 for the Premier. In the absence of a Luxury trim, the 200t selection is priced from £36,495 for the F Sport and £39,495 in Premier guise.
