The Lexus NX was recently launched in the UK and in an effort to gauge public perception Lexus took its new model along to the Westfield shopping centre in London.

An Ultra Blue F Sport model was chosen for the event which saw members of the public from every walk of life give their opinions on the super-stylish luxury hybrid crossover.

Abu Ahmed, a public services offer and former IS 200 owner said, “I think NX is a great family car and the styling is great – I can see that a lot of creative work has gone into perfecting its look. The front-end is very different and unique.”

Adding, “I’ve ordered a brochure already and as long as my wife approves and you do a white one; I’ll be finding my nearest Lexus showroom and placing an order!”

Edward Rennie & Tom Walker, a sports management graduate and skipper respectively, were impressed with the NX’s angular design features, Tom said, “When you think of Lexus, you think of a more traditional saloon, whereas the NX is a bit more out there – I really like it”

Edward was particularly pleased with the hybrid aspect, “I think hybrids are the cars to have. Having something economical just works. There was a time when I think hybrid was seen as a bit of a downgrade, but I think they’re the way to go right now – it makes sense”

A host of new technologies are present in the NX including a touchpad infotainment interface and premium surround sound system, designed with renowned audio specialist Mark Levinson.

Passengers will also be able to recharge their mobile phones and other compatible electronic devices by simply placing them in a charging tray located between the front two seats.

The tray comes as standard with the F Sport and Premier trims and is available as an optional upgrade on the NX 300h Luxury.

A dedicated engine control unit (ECU) mounted behind the C-pillar constantly monitors input from four interconnected cameras located on the front grille, door mirrors and rear trim.

The Lexus Remote Touch interface control has also been revised and updated for the launch of the NX 300h incorporating a new touchpad on the centre console.

Prices for the NX-300h start at £29,495.
