Lexus has sent congratulations to its international ambassador, Hideki Matsuyama, who recently won his first PGA Tour win at this year’s Jack Nicklaus Memorial Tournament.
After turning professional last year, Matsuyama achieved his first impressive record by becoming the first amateur to top the winnings list and the second to win four tournaments in a year on the Japan Golf Tour.
Expectations were high for this young golfer, as he had already set himself up as a high-achieving player in the golfing world.
But, luckily the pressure on Matsuyama’s shoulders wasn’t apparent as he went on to secure a win at the PGA Tournament.
It was Lexus Chief Branding Officer and Master Driver Akio Toyoda who officially congratulated Matsuyama, saying: “He has defied all the pressure he has been under since the start of the season, and has pulled off a very impressive playoff win.”
It is Matsuyama’s skill that led him to become a Lexus ambassador, according to Lexus International Executive Vice President, head of global sales and marketing Mark Templin.
He said, “We’re very proud to have Hideki representing Lexus, His dedication to his craft mirrors the Lexus approach, and we share with him the drive to get out there and perform at our very best, every time.”
Mark continued on to say that Matsuyama’s form on the golf course was the perfect embodiment of the brand’s ‘Amazing in Motion’ slogan.
In his role as a Lexus ambassador, Matsuyama’s name and likeness are used in the brand’s global marketing promotions and his golf attire carries the Lexus logo.
Meanwhile the young golfer benefits from Lexus’ provision of a range of transport vehicles for his domestic and international tours.
Matsuyama is one of the many professional golfers who are sponsored by Lexus across the world as part of its support for up-and-coming talents.
